Sustainability
Campus Initiatives
As a guest, it is easy to make smart environmental choices when you dine at a Sodexo café. We know today's college students want to do the right thing for the planet and we also understand you lead busy lives, so your Sodexo chefs and managers do a lot of the work for you behind the scenes!
From purchasing local seasonal produce whenever possible to reducing inorganic and organic waste, your campus team is dedicated to providing you with an exceptional dining experience that is good for you and good for the planet.
We also recycle all cardboard material and reuse all pallets that our orders are delivered on. There is a partnership currently with students where we collect composting material from our waste and they pick it up weekly to fertilize butterfly gardens around the dorms.
Sodexo is partnered with the Lion's Food Pantry on campus. We deliver unused soups and sandwiches to the pantry weekly as part of our Stop Hunger Initiative.
We have recently added a Chameleon coffee retail location who use only 100% organic, Fair Trade Certified coffee bean and have many different types of programs to help both the location and the people who grow the coffee but to also protect the planet and community in their commitment to long-term sustainability. One example in Huehuetenango, Guatemala they are running the Chameleon Coffee Community Partner Program which in 5 years hopes to improve the lives of 400 coffee producing families, offering technical assistance, and farm renovation and many other things.
